good morning. this is nbc 10 news today. thanks for being with us. i'm rosemary connors. >> and i'm dray clark. it's 9:00 on this sunday morning. we are happy about the big win. we are in the midst of a first alert because of the cold. to meteorologist krystal klei with a look at your most accurate forecast. >> most locations are now starting to feel above the zero mark. still a few spots running in lancaster that feel below. 3 in allentown. better off than just a few hours ago. we still feel very cold. this is part of the reason why. look at the winds. 14 in coatesville. millville, those wind speeds at 13 miles an hour as well.
you calculate that in with the rough, cold air. that's when you get the feels like temperatures. we do have some of those higher clouds hanging along our coastal points. they've moved offshore. we have a very nice, blue sky overhead. lots of sunshine. we go from 16 currently to 25 at 1:00. we'll peak midafternoon only in the 20s. the feels like temperatures only peak in the upper teens. now there's some good news in sight. we have a warm-up. it will take a while to get there. we'll talk about when that hits and your workweek coming up. ryan rolls. ryan pumps. ryan is throwing it up in the air. incomplete! incomplete! >> i could watch this all day.
the eagles defense had their backs right you up against the goal line in the final minute. the 15-10 win punched the eagles ticket to next sunday's nfc championship game in front of a roaring home crowd. >> and that brings the birds to one win away from a trip to the super bowl in minneapolis. the eagles were underdogs. the fans had their backs the whole game. nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is at the broad street diner. >> reporter: good morning. we're with a flock of eagles fans here at the broad street diner, some of them nursing a hangover, others celebrating with a south philly breakfast after this nail biting finish. it sends the eagles to the championship game and sent fans at the linc going crazy. take a look. ♪ fly eagles fly >> go birds!

course on game day. >> now to a developing story that we're watching in philadelphia's neighborhood. it all started inside a hotel 17th and locust streets. smoke coming from the 21st floor short after 7:00 this morning. crews got everything under control. hotel guests were evacuated to the mezzanine level. another developing story we're watching, details are still coming in on a barricade situation and shooting in philadelphia's eastwick neighborhood. it all happened around 7:00. a man shot his girlfriend's mother. she ran from the house. she is now in stable condition from the hospital. working to get more information on the suspect. new this morning an investigation is under way after a police officer shot a man in kensington.
the 20-year-old man is in critical condition at temple university hospital. it's still unclear exactly what led up to the shooting. to south jersey where authorities charged two people in connection with a murder. shane davis face as first-degree murder charge. 19-year-old coley faces a charge of aggravated assault. police say she hit the victim with a shovel and davis shot and killed him. davis and coley also live. >> this morning investigators are trying to determine -- >> how a 3-month-old baby died. sorry about that, rosemary. the baby was sleeping with her foster mother and the foster mother's boyfriend. that's when the foster mother called 911 to say the baby was unresponsive. medics rushed the child from the house to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
no word yet on possible charges. here at home a wilmington man accused of a robbery spree spanning nearly two weeks and a dozen holdups is now in custody. delaware state police arrested him on ten counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. this morning hawaii is recovering from a mistake that led to quite the scare for residents and visitors. a false emergency alert of an incoming ballistic missile. it said this is not a drill. a second message it was just a false alarm. the initial alarm sparked panic on the island and stirred concerns across social media. they have apologized.
>> it occurred at the change of shift where they go through to make sure the system is working. an employee pushed the wrong button. last month it reintroduced siren tests from the cold war era. vai sikahema is in hawaii. vai received that emergency alert on his phone as well. he and his wife faced a shelter in place situation. >> it was pretty scary there for maybe a half hour. everyone wanted to stay safe and be alert on tv and radio for more information. >> and we're happy to report that vai, his wife, and everyone else in hawaii are safe. cleaning up and taking stock out west.

the rest of us have bumped up to above the zero mark. of course, aside from mt. pocono. it feels like 2 degrees in dover. 4 atlantic city and 4 for mt. holly. most of us are feeling very cold this morning and even to the afternoon hours bitter cold days similar to yesterday. we will have sunshine in the afternoon. you can see a clear picture on satellite and radar. it will stick to the sunny, cold, breezy day. winds for today continue to slink on in from the north. we are going to feel the effects. the winds coming from the north pool in that colder air. that's request we have a colder forecast today. wind gusts lead to that windchill factor or making it feel colder than it is to the way you and your body perceive

as the rescuers look for more victims, cleanup crews are clearing the roads. the popular freeway in the area is closed indefinitely. homeowners who lost power and water during last week's massive rainstorm, some neighbors fared far worse. >> a little bit of inconvenience is nothing compared to what others are dealing with. felt a little trapped but you suck it up and make the best of it. >> a bit of a bright spot. this morning a firefighter is recounting the moment he and a comrade heard the sound of a crying baby coming from beneath the mud-soaked debris. >> so i was able to find the baby. it was down a couple feet underneath the logs, and there was just a small pathway that went down to its face. just a miracle. >> the firefighters managed to pull the child to safety. medics took the baby to a hospital. >> president trump's alleged vulgar comments is sparking a
global backlash. a number of world leaders condemned the president's remarks and criticized his position in power. the u.n. office of human rights did so as well. on thursday mr. trump referred to haiti and nations in africa as, quote, s-hole countries. during a meeting on immigration policy. in the uk yesterday a group of trump supporters heckled london mayor as he gave a speech. cohn told the president he was not welcome. after re-tweeting anti-muslim videos. mr. trump said he would not attend opening in london because of what he calls a bad purchasing deal. be sure to watch "meet the press "on the controversial comments airing live at 10:30 here on nbc 10. former soldier chelsea manning who served time in prison says she will run. manning is the army intelligence
analyst convicted of leking more than 700,000 classified documents to wikileaks. president barack obama granted manning clemency just before leaving office last year. manning says she will run as a democrat in the primary against incumbent senator cardin. manning would be the first transgender person in the u.s. senate if elected. coming up, we're remembering a sports broadcasting legend. a look back at the 50-year of keith jackson, the man who brought college sports to life. also this morning heading to the super bowl, ahead in the next half hour hear what "hamilton" star will be doing at the big game.
the legendary down home voice of college football, keith jackson, has. jackson was behind the microphone for top gridiron matchups for five decades, best known for the catch phrase, whoa nelly. it charmed generations of fans. he's also credited with nick naming the rose bowl the granddaddy of them all. the georgia native called world series games as well as the olympics and auto racing. keith jackson died friday. he was 89 years old. this week's wednesday's child is a typical teenager, loves to be with, always very

teens. 16 degrees in philly and mt. holly you're at 16 in trenton. 18 atlantic city. those are the actual temperatures so that cold air we promised would move in has moved in and is stuck over us. look at the feels like temps. because we still have those winds pushing in from the north that is strong enough pace it feels colder than itit f tls li philly. 4 in mt. holly. we've looked at the first alert. it's going to be cold the whole head out so you're safe if you will be outside. current wind gusts, here is the issue. coming in from the north, 22-mile-per-hour gusts at philly. 21 at coatesville and 25 atlantic city. i think this is where it's going to stay during the morning hours, gusts 20 to 25. windchill factor will be in full swing. here is the good news. it's a sunny picture today and dry as we go into martin luther

through the roof of the diner and sports bar. firefighters brought the flames under control. fortunately nobody here was hurt. it will be a long road to recovery for one family following this fast-moving house fire in cape may county. firefighters responded to the house in lower township yesterday morning. the flames, as you can see, were too intense to get them under control. no one was hurt. a fire stopped amtrak service in newark, new jersey. flames broke out near the tracks yesterday. new jersey transit briefly stopped all train service in both directions around 11:00. amtrak warned passengers to expect delays. service was operating on or close to schedule. in philadelphia jury selection will begin tuesday in the federal corruption trial of mayor ed pawlowski.

well, so many of us flying high after that big win last night. the reality check hit us this morning when we woke up. we're still in the middle of cold wer. >> some warm feelings coming from lincoln financial field. >> i actually think i saw a lot of our coverage yesterday, the home team did awesome. fans seemed warm. i think they dressed
appropriately. they were just warm from that high they were on. i think there was some alcohol helping, i'm not going to live. let's look at the conditions outside across the re. yesterday looking at this map saying, wow, everyone is cold except for us. yesterday morning that mild air holding tight against the coastal line. not anymore. that cold has pushed on through. we're 16 in philly. look at our neighbors to the north, the west way colder than us. it be worse. regardless it feels bitter still this morning. 2 at the airport. some of these numbers in the teens are locations winds are not reporting, so the mathematics cannot calculate what it feels like because winds are a factor. it is cold. clouds have pushed off for the most part. plenty of sunshine overhead. lots of sunshine across much of
the region. we don't have any big weather makers so should stick with a sunny, dry forecast. that's not going to help with the cold. highs today will remain on the chilly side. 28 degrees in philly and the suburbs. 29 in south jersey and delaware. at the shore, 27 for the forecast high temperature today. then to tomorrow, cold conditions. temperatures you'll need to up. by noon, 28. and then near freezing in the afternoon over philadelphia. a lel more cloud coverage. that's the same in the lehigh valley, berks county. as we shift over to south jersey, 30 by 4:00. 32 along the jersey shore right around freezing with the cloudy. feels like temperatures as we go through today. those, of course, are worse off.
so by lunch time around 10 to 15 degrees and then in the afternoon upper teens but that's as good as we get for those windchill feels like conditions. if you are heading out the door early right around 5 degrees for your feels like. and then in the afternoon temperatures that feel like they're in the low 20s so bundling up for a couple more days straight. if you take a peek at the bottom of your screen you'll see the neighborhood forecast, we are looking at 30s for highs. the hour by hour model, fast forwarding through tuesday morning. it looks like a cold front will approach the area. the front may provide lift and moisture for us to see snow falling even into parts of our wednesday. now not in total agreement in amounts or timing. we're warning for light snow possible late tuesday into wednesday. >> thank you, krystal. the pride of philadelphia will be in the spotlight.
